The Soulfully voiced Kat Eaton dazzles us with a Live EP

Listen via Spotify - http://open.spotify.com/album/6ypn5oAi7JkOWw8FspZric

Kat Eaton, who I had the pleasure of recently seeing perform live has just released her live EP - entitled Kat Eaton Live OntSofa at the Foundry.

Don't Paint It Black features a upbeat instrumental and powerful vocals courtesy of Kat, her voice is soulful and she captivates her audience without even breaking a sweat.

Tightrope is a more laidback number but the performance will still leave you wanting more, her lyrics are heartfelt and are delivered straight from the soul.

Coming Home is another musical gem with a wonderful guitar arrangement, Kat's voice is simply out of this world and I love the way the other instruments are arranged.

Alien features a slow piano melody, catchy percussion beats and unique lyrics from the songwriting genius that is Kat Eaton, plus the guitar arrangement is smooth and the vocal performance towards the end of the song is phenomenal.

Giving It Up begins with a energetic intro, which continues alongside Kat's delightful voice.

Kat Eaton is a outstanding vocalist and support by a equally talented band ensures that this live EP is truly a musical work of art, every track shines its own unique and inimitable style.

Introducing the smooth vocals of Aylin Eser

Australian based Singer Aylin Eser and award winning producer Will Larsen write music in a similar vein to the melodic stylings of Katie Melua and Norah Jones plus their songs feature piano pop as one would expect from Burt Bacharach.

This is reflected in their Arrows of Desire EP, which was released last November and is available to purchase from iTunes - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/id633645297?affId=1736887

Dancing Shoes is a nice upbeat and positive song with some cool instrumental arrangement. The vocal parts of Arrows of Desire are slightly overshadowed by the instrumental tracks. Dolls and Trolls is another upbeat song and its instrumental arrangement is slightly similar to Laura by The Scissor Sisters. The lyrics of One More Chance are more emotional than the other songs in the EP. With the exception of Arrows Of Desire, this is a great EP.

Aylin was kind enough to take time out of her busy schedule to provide us with an interview.

How did you get into music in the first place?
I’ve been into music ever since I can remember. I was singing even before I could talk according to my mum, but I was led to believe that becoming a singer was just a dream, so I studied more “realistic” fields like business and interior design.

I met Will Larsen, the half of the band, at a firm where I was working as an interior designer. He was already a well established and quite well known, professional musician and film composer here in Melbourne. He’s even won awards for his work.

When he found out I loved to sing, he immediately asked what I was doing wasting my time in an office job!! He really encouraged me to chase my dream of becoming a singer. So I did. We’ve been working together, writing songs and performing ever since.

Who were your musical influences, Western and/or Turkish?
I love Eva Cassidy, Etta James, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones and Sertab Erener.

What tunes are currently on repeat on your Mp3 Player?
“Rejuvenation” by The Meters is always there for a great pick-me-up. It’s so funky that you can’t help but smile!! And I’ve just bought Anoushka Shankar’s new album “Traces of You,” which I’m loving. It’s just so gorgeous and beautiful. That girl is seriously talented!!

What’s your life outside of music?
I enjoy playing sports such as tennis, going for nature walks, reading, spending time with family and friends, cooking and trying new food, traveling and sightseeing.

If you could collaborate with any singer English or Turkish who would it be?
I would love to do something with Imani because she has one of the most stunning voices I think have ever heard. I love her music and lyrics as well.

What’s your favourite genre of music?
That’s a very difficult question for me because I don't think I have just one favourite genre. I enjoy many genres: indie, pop, classical, Turkish classical and folk.

What’s next for you musically and are there plans for a UK Tour?
Will and I are planning to release an album in mid 2014 as well as begin touring in the second half of 2014. And yes, a UK tour is definitely on the cards!

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
My strengths include a generally positive outlook on life and a friendly disposition. My
weaknesses can include indecisiveness and a tendency to be stubborn at times.

Where do you draw inspiration for your song lyrics?
Anything and everything. Inspiration exists everywhere, you just need to be aware and see it. It could be in something you read, eat, smell, wear, an act that someone displays, a feeling or a thought that randomly appears and so much more..

What is your guilty pleasure?
Hmmm one word.. Cheesecake :)

Brandon James - Musical Passion Shows on "Everytime"

To have any lasting success in this wild music industry the most important thing to have is passion.

A close second is the desire to learn as much as you can about the music business as a whole. Our latest find Brandon James is seems to be on the right path.

The rising star from Chicago is aiming to make an impact to the world with his crossover style that blends elements of Gospel, Blues, Pop, and R&B. After discovering his raw talent for singing at age 12 the fire was lit and he dove in with both feet.

He did what was necessary and learned from some of the best vocal teachers of the area including Chicago Jazz legend Bobby Wilsyn. Seeking to learn more about the complete music industry Brandon James attended Columbia College of Chicago where he earned a degree in Music Performance & Music
 Business.

The single “Everytime” by Brandon James caught me attention with its soulful feel and smooth sound. The vocal swells that Brandon is able to hit are very impressive and his talent is undeniable. The 5 minute track is a great introduction to this rising star.

The song is available on iTunes and you can keep tabs on Brandon at https://www.facebook.com/BrandDo20
